Helpful Hints
Benefits of Consistency

  • It provides security.   A
    regular schedule makes      you
    child feel secure and
    comfortable .  He knows     what
    to expect.

  • It is healthy.  Consistency
    promotes a healthy lifestyle.  At
    bedtime, for example,
    consistency promotes restful
    sleep; at dinnertime, it helps
    meet nutritional needs.

  • It promotes self-discipline.   A
    child who knows that a
parent is serious when he  says,
“It’s bedtime” or “You know we
don’t talk back”,     is more likely
    to become      more self-
    disciplined.

  • It illustrates your love.
    Consistency shows your     child
that you love and      care for
him.  If you are      willing to take
    the time to      structure your
    child’s      activities, this time
    represents love.
Dear Parents,

We have been focusing on
responsible behavior during the
months of August and
September.   The teachers have
created some wonderful activities
with your little ones.  Ask them to
share with you.

And, speaking of responsible
behavior, part of the
responsibilities of parenting is to
be consistent.  (I think this is one
of the hardest, especially when I’
m tired.)  So, this issue is
devoted to the benefits, the “how-
to’s”, and some of the rewards of
consistency.
As always, if I can be of help to
you, please let me know.
